The format of Fujifilm Professional's Distinctions Awards has changed for 2006. The main change is that all images must now have been shot using film. These images can then be scanned and submitted in the usual way via the Distinctions website, www.fujifilmdistinctions.co.uk

The prize fund has been increased, with the 1st prize being doubled to £2,000. A runner-up prize of £1,000 and a 3rd place prize of £500 have also been introduced.

Jeanette Beattie, Marketing Manager for Fujifilm Professional Film Products explained the reasons behind the move to film only submissions: "Fujifilm Professional is dedicated to the continued production and promotion of professional film and the Distinctions Awards now reflects this commitment. All initiatives and promotions run by the Professional division must promote Fujifilm professional film products and users of these products."

Fujifilm Professional will carry on its support for the wider industry through its support of the main professional photographic associations and its continued backing of the Envisage marketing programme.

For professional photographers who shoot digitally, Will Rolls, Marketing Manager for Fujifilm Digital Products said: "With the FinePix S3 Pro, Fujifilm has proved that it is committed to delivering products of the highest quality to the professional photographic community. This camera is particularly special, as it enables photographers to achieve continuity from the films that they know and trust."

The Distinctions Awards were launched in September 2002 and since then over 20,000 images have been submitted, making it one of the most prestigious professional photographic awards in the UK. Entry to Distinctions is open to all UK based professional photographers. Entry is free and photographers can submit as many images as they like.
