The first UK preview of Panasonics new G1 will be on display at this years Retail Imaging Show, taking place at The Marriott, Grosvenor Square on Friday 17th October.
The G1 uses the new digital interchangeable lens camera system - the LUMIX G Micro System.
Based on the new Micro Four Thirds System standard it greatly reduces camera size and weight. The world market for digital interchangeable lens cameras continues to grow at a steady pace, yet there is a widespread notion that DSLRs are large, heavy and hard to use resulting in a preference for compact cameras.
The G1 shatters the old notion that all DSLRs are bulky. By increasing the number of electrical contacts between camera body and lens, Panasonic has also increased camera expandability and maximized potential of the G1 by ensuring compatibility with future features. In addition, the versatile G1 accepts not only Micro Four Thirds System interchangeable lenses, but also conventional Four Thirds System lenses (when an optional adapter is mounted). This means that users can continue to use Four Thirds lenses they already own. When you don't know which mode will give you the best shooting results choose iA (Intelligent Auto) mode and the camera will do it all for you.
You can have a look at the G1 on the Panasonic stand (LO8) at the Retail Imaging show, for ticket details call 0870 777 9778. The G1 will go on sale from the end of October with an RRP of £600.
