PMA has seen the proof of the new guidance document for passport photographs which clears up the ambiguities of previous versions. In particular the new leaflet directs people away from home printing and encourages the use of photo studios especially for photos of babies and young children.
There is a clear statement about back printing which should not obscure the facial area, and the use of off-white, cream or grey backgrounds is necessary. There are also new and clear size regulations for baby photos. The new leaflet will be available shortly. In the meantime the 'Highlights' section of the UK page on the PMA website www.pmai.org contains a link to updated information from the Passport Office.
Since the new leaflet will direct consumers to passport studios, PMA will be providing dealers with a door decal and poster that identifies them as a Passport Photo Centre enabling them to capitalise on the continuing profit opportunity.
