Swains International is promoting the Konus brand of telescopes and compasses, with an advertising campaign in the BBC's Sky At Night magazine as well as providing sales staff support with a training event to educate staff in the wonder of star gazing!
The BBC has recently re-launched the famous Sky At Night programme, hosted by Patrick Moore, and introduced a new magazine for fans of the show. To support Konus telescopes, Swains has booked a series of 12 ads in the magazine, ensuring the Konus sales message is reaching exactly the right consumer - astronomy enthusiasts.
And to give Swains sales staff the most up to date knowledge of Konus telescopes, Swains chairman Chris Swain welcomed 15 members of his sales staff into his home where he hosted a star gazing party for the evening. The evening was led by Andrew Green, Director and Resident Astronomer at the StarDrome Planetarium, who passed on his enthusiasm and vast knowledge of telescopes and stars using a computer controlled telescope as well as Konus telescopes.
Chris Swain comments: "The idea of the star gazing party was to get all the sales staff together for an evening to broaden their knowledge of astronomy and using Konus telescopes. While our sales team has a wide knowledge of all our products and brands, Konus telescopes are niche products and not as easy to pick up and play with and master as say a digital camera or camera phone. So we wanted to help our staff understand the range's capabilities more fully. Our staff now feel a lot more confident about the benefits of Konus products and enjoying the vast universe through them. This knowledge has already been spread to our retailers and we are enjoying additional sales interest as a result. Retailers should also make the most of the extra sales revenue that the Sky At Night advertising will generate and stock Konus telescopes."
