West country based photo lab Topfoto Services Ltd have announced that they transferring all retail production from their Bristol based Avoncolour lab to the Topfoto Liskeard laboratory. As of 1st October 2005 Avoncolour will concentrate solely on the fulfilment of professional lab services.
Visiting customers will still be able to access Avoncolour's professional E6, C41 and B/W film processing as well as the unique Premier Pro process, scan, grade, and CD photographic printing services. Although key Avoncolour staff are being retained, therefore ensuring continuity of quality and service, these changes will unfortunately result in some redundancies.
Says Chris Childs, Topfoto Services MD: "Having been established in Bristol for more than 25 years Avoncolour has been transformed over the past three years largely due to the adoption of digital printing systems, in addition to providing state-of-the-art professional services these systems enabled Topfoto to fulfil d&p services across a broader geographical area, however recent investments in the Liskeard lab mean that it is now more efficient for us to handle all retail d&p centrally in one lab therefore simplifying both the Liskeard and Bristol operations."
Childs continues: "Although it is difficult to make decisions that effect peoples jobs I consider it necessary to consolidate our retail operations so as to be able to continue to provide competitive imaging solutions and fully embrace new digital products across both the retail and professional sectors."
