Worcestershire photographer, Tamara Peel, has been named the winner of the recent Fujichrome Velvia 100 photographic competition run by Fujifilm Professional and Light and Land Photographic Holidays. This accolade is one of many national and European awards that Tamara has won over recent years.

The prize is a Light & Land photographic holiday to Cuba in November 2005 worth over £2,500. The winner receives a pre-tour tutorial with the tutors, Phil Malpas and Clive Minnitt, before leaving for a 10-day tour of Cuba, stopping off at Havana, Vinales, Cienfuegos and Trinidad. The prize also includes a post-tour follow up with the tutors at the end of the trip.

The judging panel was chaired by Light and Land's Charlie Waite, who made this comment on the competition: 'Cuba is described in our brochure as "an exhilarating journey into colour, sound and spirit" and we were looking for entries that match that description. The judging process was far from simple, thanks to the high standard of entries, but in the end we decided that Tamara's entry was a worthy winner. Sadly, however due to other commitments, Tamara is unable to go on the trip so second placed entrant, Hiroyuki Mori, a student photographer based in London will be going in her place.'

The runners up were Vic Smith, Rod Saar, Danny Beath, Tony Watson, Steve Cavalier, Keith Schubert, Roger Dubois, Owen Watt and Mike Buxton. Each runner up receives ten rolls of the new Fujichrome Velvia 100 film and a signed copy of Charlie Waite's new book on landscape Photography - 'The Story of 50 Favourite photographs'.

The competition was timed to mark the launch of Fujifilm's new addition to their professional film range - Fujichrome Velvia 100. The theme for the competition was 'This Wonderful World' and entrants were instructed to submit original and passionate photographs taken on the new film, which displayed excellent composition and use of light and colour.
