PENTAX has launched two additions to the PENTAX DCF HRc Series, its range of standard large roof-prism binoculars. The new products feature a standard large roof-prism that provides a brighter and clearer field of vision for the user. The inclusion of a new optical system has also made the binoculars dramatically lighter, so that they are easier to hold for longer periods of time, says the manufacturer.
Major Features
1. Bright, clear field of view
Multi-layer optical coatings have been applied to all lenses and prisms to boost the amount of transmitted light. For the first time, the binoculars also include, silver-deposited roof prisms with high light-reflection ratios. These combined features create a brighter and clearer field of view for the user. A phase-correcting prism coating that enhances the binoculars' resolution and contrast has also been applied as in previous models.
2. Dramatically lighter
A new optical system, with an inner-focusing mechanism that does not require dust-proof glass elements, has resulted in a more compact body. These binoculars are now 20 percent lighter than previous models.
3. Waterproofed for washing
The binoculars can be used in all weather conditions as a result of the waterproof construction* (JIS Class 6 equivalent, water resistant to a depth of 1 metre) that permits all parts of the binoculars to be washed in water. *The binoculars cannot be used underwater.
4. Superb impact resistance
The rubber coated body provides superb shock and impact resistance.
5. Other features
(1) The binoculars are nitrogen-filled to prevent internal lens fogging caused by differing temperatures.
(2) Click-stop diopter adjuster that guards against accidentally moving the diopter setting.
(3) Locking diopter adjuster guards are designed to prevent the accidental movement of the diopter setting.
(4) Focuses as close as 2.5 metres for easy observation of subjects nearby. (5) Helicoid four-stop eyepiece rings that permit fine adjustment for maximum viewing comfort .
