The Merit winners in the third quarter of the 2005 Fujifilm Distinctions Awards have been announced.

The winners in the Social category were Stuart Bebb, Wayne Brown (2), Sharon Casey, Mark Cleghorn, Les Pringle (4) and Kevin Wilson.

David Blackmore, Martin Brent, Nigel Harper, Robert Mullan, Rodger Tamblyn, Karen Turner (2), Dave Wall, Gary Walsh, and Anton Want were all winners in the Commercial section. Each Merit winner will receive a £50 Fujifilm product voucher.

Judge of the Commercial category, Doug Currie from SUN Awards, paid tribute to the standard of the winning images: "I was very impressed by the diversity of the entries I judged. There was a real sense of creativity with many of the images and I was delighted to see how many photographers had tried something new, rather than just make a copy of another person's work. Original ideas are our most important asset."

There were 1,223 images submitted to the Distinctions website, www.fujifilmdistinctions.co.uk, over the last three months. Each Merit winner will now be asked to submit a print which goes into the final judging which takes place in January 2006. It is from these prints that the overall Distinctions winners will be chosen. Each overall winner will collect a cash prize of £1,000, topped up by a further £500 in Fujifilm product vouchers if the winner is also a member of the Envisage marketing programme.

Entry to the final quarter is now open, and the closing date for submissions is December 31st 2005. For further details, please visit www.fujifilmdistinctions.co.uk
