PENTAX launches new entry level compact

PENTAX U.K. has launched the new Optio E40, an entry-level compact digital camera, which is designed to deliver effortless high-resolution photography, even for beginners.

The latest Optio E40 features PENTAX's 'Face Recognition AF&AE' technology for premium quality people shots. Novices and those looking for a great all-round camera for holidays and special occasions will not be disappointed because of blurred pictures, thanks to the new Shake Reduction mode which reduces the effects of camera shake and subject blurring. This model also offers 8.1 effective megapixels, offering superb fine picture quality not normally found in other entry - level cameras.

The Optio E40 is the latest addition to PENTAX's Optio E series offering world leading optics and a premium photographic experience in an easy to use package - all at a competitive price.

Like its predecessor, this camera features a Green mode which automates settings and offers users a quick and intuitive way to start shooting. It comes with 10MB of built-in memory and supports both SD and SDHC memory. The camera has been designed to specifically to use less power. It takes AA batteries which are easily found no matter where they are in the world. The Optio E40 will be on sale from August 2007 and the price is still to be confirmed.
