Pentax has launched the versatile, high performance PENTAX DA 18-250mm F.3-6.3 ED AL (IF) interchangeable zoom lens, which will enable users to shoot a variety of images without having to change lenses.

When mounted on a PENTAX digital SLR camera body, it boasts an approximately 14-times zoom ratio, covering an impressive range from 27.5mm wide angle to 383mm super-telephoto in 35mm format. Consequently the lens is able to handle a variety of applications, including the standard snapshot, landscape, portrait and even specialised photography such as sports and wildlife.

The lens has been exclusively designed for use with PENTAX digital SLR cameras, with an image circle perfectly in proportion to their image sensor size (23.5mm x 15.7mm). In addition, by incorporating extra-low dispersion glass and two aspherical optical elements, it effectively compensates for the adverse effects of various aberrations, helping to ensure superb image quality. This is complimented by the fact that the coating, curvature and position of all the optical elements have been optimised for the characteristics of digital images, thus minimising the flare and ghost images that can ruin pictures.
